Ebook checked out

The ebook I need is ‘checked out’ and there won’t be a copy available until after I have to hand in my assignment, what will I do?

Answer

This is fairly rare as the library monitors ebooks usage and responds with additional copies when there’s high demand. However at the busiest time of the semester, it could happen.

Here’s what you do if this happens to you:

  1. If it’s for an assignment you’re working on and another book will do: Go to the Library catalogue (URL: https://uol.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=353UOL_INST:353UOL_VU1&sortby=rank) and see if there’s an older version of the book.
  2. Don’t assume it’s you or a mistake you’re making, always let us know. Please notify the Library immediately (email libinfo@ul.ie) and tell us the module code and book name.
  3. Tell your lecturer if it’s an exam situation or there’s an impending deadline, they may be able to suggest an alternative book to the class.
