What is Shibboleth?

Answer

Shibboleth is basically an authentication system, a way for an electronic resource or website to identify what organisation you are affiliated with, and if that organisation subscribes to this resource you can use your university login credentials to access it.

Shibboleth authentication is not available for all our electronic resources, so in some cases you won't see the University of Limerick listed as an option, in those cases you would have to access the resource directly from the Library website to be prompted to log in. In the case that Shibboleth is set up for a resource you can log into that resource directly from Google if you find the link.
